WHAT IS AN EPAL BOX PALLET?
The EPAL Box Pallet, commonly called an EPAL Gitterbox in German-speaking markets, is a reusable steel lattice load carrier. It is used in manufacturing, automotive supply chains, warehouses and European returnable-packaging systems. “EPAL Box Pallet” is the official English term. Related terms include EPAL Gitterbox, Euro Gitterbox, steel lattice box pallet and wire mesh box pallet.

When loaded units are stacked on a solid, level surface, the load on the bottom box pallet must not exceed 6,000 kg. Final supply and acceptance must follow current EPAL Technical Regulations, approved documentation and the purchase order.

IDENTIFICATION AND MARKINGS
EPAL public product information identifies the standard box pallet by the embossed EPAL-in-oval mark; letter Y with a stamped or stencilled number; EPAL control seal; load and volume information; and, on new units, the producer name and location or EPAL licence number and year. EPAL marks may only be applied under the applicable licence and current EPAL Technical Regulations.

CONSTRUCTION AND APPLICATIONS
The open-top steel lattice framework helps identify contents. Two hinged panels provide loading access, while four-sided accessibility supports forklift handling. Applications include automotive parts, metal components, factory material flow, warehouse storage and returnable transport packaging.

Suitability for food, pharmaceutical, dangerous-goods or other regulated uses must be assessed separately. No FDA, GMP or dangerous-goods compliance is implied by the EPAL licence.

INSPECTION AND SHIPPING
Agreed inspection can cover documents, dimensions, welds, door and lock function, stability, coating, markings, traceability, quantity, packing and loading. Third-party scope and cost must be agreed in writing. Because the standard product includes four timber boards, destination-specific plant-health and wood-packaging rules, including ISPM 15, must be checked for each shipment. It is not described as fumigation-free without shipment-specific confirmation.

CUSTOM PRODUCTS
KELI can review drawings or samples for custom steel mesh containers. A custom product must not carry EPAL identification unless covered by the applicable licence.
